Objective:

To design and implement a Truck and Driver Scheduling system with Gantt-based planning, truck availability management, and delivery scheduling.

Functional

• Manage Trucks with capacity and type (Refrigerated / Haulage).

• Manage Drivers and their working shifts (Weekly / Monthly).

• Reserve Truck + Driver when a delivery job is created.

• Prevent double booking of trucks.

• Show availability (Available / Not Available).

• Provide Gantt View with trucks on the left and deliveries in timeline.

• Default view: Weekly (with Daily and Monthly options).

• Show Morning Afternoon and Overtime delivery slots.

• shift type (Morning / Afternoon / OT)

• State (Available / Leave)

Gantt View Design

1. Driver Schedule Planning

a) Plan the driver weekly or monthly working schedule.

Fig 1.1

2. Truck Schedule Planning

a) Create the Request of Transport for the Truck, without worrying about selecting the driver that is not working.

b) Overview of the Truck availability and capacity, for easy planning.

Fig 1.0

• Top Timeline: Day / Date (Default: Weekly).

• Each Gantt Cell Displays:

   - Customer Name

   - Shift

   - Delivery Time

• Color coding based on Delivery state.

• Availability automatically determined based on schedule overlap.

3. Availability Logic

• Truck is Available if no overlapping schedule exists for the same day.

• The truck is Not Available if already reserved in the selected time slot.

• The system prevents double booking using validation constraints.

 Workflow Process

1. Driver Schedule Planning:

1. Create a drive contact

Fig 1.3

2. Goto driver schedule menu and create driver schedule and generate entries for the whole month

Fig 1.4

Fig 1.5

3. This will generate the schedule of the driver for the whole month based on its working schedule and any public holiday in between or applied leaves.

4. Now we can see the more clear picture of all the drivers and their allocated driving schedules in the gantt chart

Fig 1.8 Red color pills show that the driver is occupied for that shift based on its RFT booking

2. Vehicle Schedule Planning:

1. Dispatcher receives delivery job and create transport RFT on the gantt chart by clicking on the relevant cell

2. Selects required truck type and capacity.

3. Confirm reservation.

4. Track delivery status in Gantt view.
